Too bad so few adults are as bright as this child!

Hmm, somehow that's a version differently edited than the one I thought I posted. The last minute can be skipped.

I have heard people 4 times his age and with higher level degrees who don't sound half as intelligent and open minded as this kid.

Yup, This young person definitely seems like a deep free thinker on the face of it.  I just hope these are his own views though.  If its repeated to make a parent happy, its a little shameful.

Today, again, after service at a church a gal friend and I frequent, I was approached by a young man from a local HS that was impressed with my presentation of Sagan's 'Pale Blue Dot. This time he asked me about alternative energy ideas and issues surrounding the concept of the 'sacred'. The minister, and my gal had suggested that 'blessing' the bread, water and wine are very important, while I had suggested that such blessing was meaningless/redundent since these having been 'created' are already 'sacred'. I allow myself to play these games as way to reframe church ideology with folks that are 'open' to other ideas, and it makes my presence at the fellowship interesting without crossing into too many taboo areas.

The young man agreeded with my reframing of the 'sacred', and now seems to be on a path to some significant independent thought.Where this will end is unclear.

The alternative energy question I placed into the context of 'many solutions conditioned upon tools, knowledge, and hardware'. I will be looking into my large collection of interesting hardware to see if I have a small box of photocells for him to experiment with.
