Over 90% of "miscarriages" happen before a woman even knows she's pregnant. Of these 99% happen when the fertilized egg is only a cluster of cells that never implants in the uterus and flows out of her body in her ordinary monthly menstrual flow. This is with women that have NORMAL fertility. In some cases the number of fertilized eggs that never implant is even higher and can lead to infertility problems. So if we are going to define pregnancy as beginning at conception - medical science does not... officially pregnancy is defined as beginning at implantation - then the number of "pregnancies" that a woman goes through in her lifetime could very well be in the 100s... the vast majority ending in spontaneous abortion... (the true medical term for miscarrage).
