I'll just take your word for it and avoid exposing myself to such drivel. I kind of like the 'preppers' a bit - if they aren't too overboard. I'm a little OCD about being prepared for anything. I always keep a few gallons of water on hand in the house just in case there is a disruption in service - things like that. I know what you mean about some of those people, though - totally whacked out with 5 million rounds of ammo.
There was no "reply" thing on your last comment on the "Not in NH" thread, so I figured we'd reached some limit of how far a thread can be hijacked or something like that.
I am trying to get active. I have a half-composed email to the NH Senate Education Committee I've been working on related to those idiotic science education bills.
And now they're trying to take away funding to Planned Parenthood in NH! I am really frightened for Americans. There are so many fronts on which I want to fight.
Mostly I have to remember to take care of myself and my kids, and generally have a good time.
You'll have to let me know how the protest went! I was too young for the protesting in the 60's and 70's, and now I have too many responsibilities. My daughter, who is in her second year of college in Philadelphia, went to the Rally for Sanity with Jon Stewart, or whatever it was called with Steve Colbert in Washington D.C. last year. I was so envious.
I will write my email in protest, though, and keep fighting the good fight in whatever ways I can.
Thank you for your kind welcome, Ken. It is a pleasure to be on this site. I too, am surrounded by indoctrinated fools. It's not really their fault. They are brainwashed. I love them dearly nonetheless. I am a Brit...sort of. A Brit with brown skin. It's a beautiful land, and I thoroughly recommend the London Eye! I look forward to participating in Godless discussions with you. Feel free to message me any time.
Yes, that is my son Aidan with James Randi. That was 3 years ago. Aidan had just turned 13 and was enticed to go to TAM with me by my showing him some videos of Penn and Teller. He enjoyed much of the conference, particularly Neil DeGrasse Tyson, PZ Myers, and Penn and Teller. While in Las Vegas we also took in several shows and both enjoyed the Blue Man Group, and Cirque du Soleil. I've been to 3 or 4 TAMs, but that was my favorite of them all.
I am lucky to have had the pleasure to see Paul Kurtz several times. A lovely gentleman. :)
Sounds lovely! I enjoy the country myself. Lived on a farm (my great-grandfather's farm) in the Texas panhandle when I was 10 years old. I had a horse, and we had chickens, rabbits, cows, dogs, cats, the occasional pet snake or spider (thanks to my brother), etc. :)
Thanks for the friend request. :) To answer your question, I grew up in Garland, a suburb of Dallas. I spend numerous hours playing with genealogy and have decided I am related to everyone in Texas. ;-) I have found distant kin in Wise County as well as just about everywhere else. My first ancestor in Texas was there while it was still the Republic.
Thanks bud- I'm in Madison NC - just other side of Eden

I'm not hearing much about 21/12/12 - I think big business has a vested interest in suppressing such nonsense as it may impact Christmas sales, :D
Didn't know about this! I'm going to try to make it to the next one! Thanks!
