Hey. I paint and stuff too. I have operated a motorized rickshaw, (Taxi cab) for ten years. I hate the term drugs and alcohol and this has somewhat to do with the job I've had for so long. That term alone and the implication that drugs are bad and alcohol is something perhaps only vaguely related is such a lie. Marijuana can contribute to respiratory issues, but that's what atomizers are for. =P Generally THC seems to mellow people out. I would much rather pick up a cab load of potheads than a load of drunks, generally speaking. I like a drink now and then but alcohol is associated with depression, suicide, outward violence, and of course does not go well with the operation of machinery.
Noted. Thank you, Allegra. Interesting parade of images in your photos. I like the color illustrations. Yours? And, yes, at least it's not crack. Or for that matter the recreational drug commonly referred to as alcohol. I know, right? =)
I'll have to make this brief, but let that not effect your opinion as to it's sincerity. You did not come off as kreepy at all, no worries. And as for AIM, not often, but I'm sure I can figure something out, I am in the process of getting a new job that pays way more than the one I just finished, so I'll be getting a new computer and I'll set up an account then, I promise, For now, I'll have to catch you later.
P.S. Post your new work, I'd love to see it.
As for the nerd-alerts in my closet: I'm a total Star Trek geek, I'm really getting into Stargate, I used to play Magic the Gathering and Star Wars card games, I love chess, I think old computer hardware is awesome, I love corny math jokes (if you divide a pumpkin's circumference by its diameter you get pumpkin pi), and I had more Legos than any other kid on the block when I was younger. Oh ya!
Ha ha, no worries. Guess I just got used to the "thanks for the add" bit. My name's on my profile. It's Graham. Pronounced like gram, not like gray-ham. I had a teacher in second grade who pronounced my name gray-ham. I hated that. When she would correct students she would yell at us with her mouth about 6 inches from our faces, and she tended to have white crusty globs appear in the corners of her mouth. Made for a nasty situation and the abuse of my name. Anyway, I'm 26, I'm studying astrophysics in Colorado, my girlfriend is a grad student in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, we have a ferret named Neelix and a dog named Annabelle, I like to read and write, and I play the guitar, the didgeridoo, and harmonica, and I am a huge dork. So what do you do in life that is? Your profile says you're really into music. Do you play any instruments or sing, or are you just into listening?
I gotta tell you, that's the most insightful thing I've heard about any of my artwork... ever. Not pulling legs or chains of any sort. And it's also one of the most encouraging things I've heard in a long time, so thank you. And tool happens to be one of my favorite bands... but I sang the way I sing before I found Tool, out singing styles are similar because of how we write... (I became obsessed in finding out why people kept saying "Dude! You sound just like that guy from Tool, Man!" so I watched a few interviews.) We start out with mumbles... and eventually those sounds become words.. Maynard does it to illustrate the music, I do it to both illustrate the music, and force myself to be honest.
I checked out your sketches, and I can't discern your message, but in the same I feel that I understand a connection with disconnection. In my interpretation, These sketches illlustrate feeling at home when taken out of your element, like being ripped into another world, but in the same event, being released. I dunno, maybe it's like seeing shapes in the autum branches. I see faces... lol I've got an obsession with faces. Comment complete.
You should post some of your work. I have some shabby recordings of my music and some pictures of my visual art... one really long poem on... on my myspace. www.myspace.com/nortonlucas. Give it a look, I could always use another opinion, constructive comment, alll that jive.
I'd have to say all of the above, for certain. I'll paint something here, sculpt there. I enjoy drawing on occasion, writing; science fiction as well as poetry... maybe both in the same... I've done a little fantasy, I'm big into fantasy games... D&D... Muds... Mostly I'm into music, though... trying not to make this comment to long, heh. But Music, unlike sculptures, paintings, ect. is felt immediately by the listener. It's the communication of the human spirit, and it's how I get my jollies best.
I need to get used to this commenting thing... I accidentally commented on myself.
Anywho, I didn't write too much about myself on my profile, because much like yourself, I'm trying to be more social as of late, so I figured I'd leave more to conversation.
