I'm going for English with hopefully a minor in Philosophy, plus I want to incorporate classical piano somehow. My primary goal is to establish a lucrative writing career within a few years so that I can work from home; circumstances dictate that I will need to be home to care for a loved on within the coming years. So I'm pretty much going to go in whatever direction will make that happen. :)
Ugh, I haven't done my degree audit yet; I'm waiting until after finals week is over in case I need to go on a whisky bender to cope with the results, lol!
Thanks! I'm so excited to move to Austin; I'm close enough to hear about all the music festivals on the radio, but not close enough to feasibly attend any of them (my weekends are devoted to homework). I'm generally not much of an urbanite, but Austin is not just another concrete jungle; in fifteen minutes you can be out in the country and the city itself is riddled with parks. Plus, there is the Atheist Community of Austin which hosts monthly lectures and weekly meetings. It will be nice to talk to some other freethinkers and such in person. :)
Hi and thanks for the coment!

Well well well... I finally have time get on TA and look what you've been up to... Writing amazing and well-rationed comments and blogs! Oh how I love your mind!
Hi Graham... I appreciate the mini-mini bio :) I lived in Pueblo for 2 months back in 2007... not quite Boulder. I do love Boulder though! My bf and I just moved to Annapolis and I really like it here. We like biking and I love Nutella, too, and... as it turns out, he runs this site! :D ((I think I get cool points for that))
My fam hasn't been too bad... my uncle doesn't know I'm not a believer (I don't think), so I doubt that sermon was directed at me... but yeah, it's definitely not something I can't talk about and expect to get anywhere. They're so walled-up and sealed tight it's not even funny. Oh well. We all still love each other so I guess that's all I can hope for...
I just realized that I totally called it a "Star Trooper." Oh, the fail. Anyways, I definitely recommend a read of Lewis Carroll's Alice. Being a nineteenth century British novel, it does delve a bit into Dickensian wordiness. However, Carroll really does incorporate a lot of word games and logic puzzles. I wish I could remember more details, but the last time I read it was during a month-long stay in San Francisco when I was twenty-one. Needless to say, my memories are a bit fuzzy...
Oh man, you did NOT just vandalize my page with a demonic effigy of your CURSED GREEN KETCHUP!!!
For that, you get THIS:
I strongly suspect that a Hello Kitty Star Trooper will not sit well with you! But really, I am super excited for Burton's take on Alice! I actually just bought another copy of Carroll's original novel to reread before it comes out. I love the logic puzzles and such that he incorporated into the text.
Yeah, I've heard of that "jack of all trades, master of none" saying before and it is true, but if you think of it this way- rock beats scissor, scissor beats paper, paper beats rock.
If you can learn all three, you can change the cycle. That's the main idea of "cross-training" anyway, and it's quite a good way I think. But still, you have to get quite high in certain martial arts to learn things they wouldn't teach to beginners- and that can take years.
Yeah it's kind of a branch off from Kyokushin Kaikan.
And I'm not "travelling" as such, I'm on a program called Latitude Gap Volunteering, which is a charity sending people around the world to work in places such as schools, hospitals, care homes, with the enviroment etc.
I'm currently in the Hyogo Prefecture in Japan working in an independant house for the mentally disabled.
Sounds like you have FAR more experience in martial arts compared to me, makes me feel lacking, haha. I'm quite jealous of all the different styles you've dabbled in, I've just had the small handful I mentioned before, but oh well.
In Okinawa? Sweet! I've wanted to go there for ages, I've still yet to go. Birthplace of Karate n all that, I bet it's got some really good techniques I could learn. I'm guessing you do martial arts? What's your background? Mine's Tae-Kwon-Do (Semi-Contact) for 2 years between ages of 11-13, then Go-Kan-Ryu Karate (No Contact) for 3.5 years, 15-18, now I've started learning ByakurenKaikan Shourinji Kempo in Japan (Full contact, and it fuckin' hurts! Haha)
Have you ever heard of NaNoWriMo? There is actually a group here on TA; Reggie, Dave, and I all gave it a go last November. It's a really great way to finally get the motivation to get large chunks of writing done, lol. You should try it next November!

Oh yeah, I totally got Jesus involved.
That ketchup joke was your trick-or-treating line in like 1989, right? My fam hasn't been too bad... my uncle doesn't know I'm not a believer (I don't think), so I doubt that sermon was directed at me... but yeah, it's definitely not something I can't talk about and expect to get anywhere. They're so walled-up and sealed tight it's not even funny.
