Why don't you post your real name on this site? This is posed to the ones who don't, of course. Just curious

I would wager that there are people who are still "in process" with their atheism; they either haven't made the entire leap yet, or have but are weary of wearing it on their sleeves.

There are also those who have a lot to lose if their families or employers discover their atheism.

I count myself fortunate as not falling into those categories, but feel for those who do.

I use my real name, but not my full name. Many don't because the platform is very quickly and easily cataloged by Google Bots. For the rest of time, a search of your name will turn up this conversation. Some might have problems with that professionally or otherwise.

I want to not be found by my real last name, i.e employers, stalkers, ex girlfriends, i don't mind telling people that i'm atheist, it's actually the best way to get out of jury duty i wrote homosapien under race, & religion i wrote Atheism.

Anonymity is delicious!

Actually, I adopt an alias for two reasons: 1) my family is pretty religious and I have enough drama as it is; 2) I'm working on my teaching certification in Texas and don't want to jeopardize my ability to procure employment. (Although I know that I cannot *legally* be denied employment on the basis of being an atheist, I'd rather not test the waters.)
