Women's Rights and the Right To Choose

I pass by anti-choice protesters about everyday on my way to work. I see all kinds of stupid, nonsensical, ignorant signs and I can't help but worry that one day abortion may be illegal again. Seriously scares the shit out of me. I pay $110 every 3 months for my birth control. My insurance doesn't cover the name brand and I am physically unable to take the generic for medical reasons that I don't want to get into. I'm doing my part to try and prevent unwanted pregnancy. If something should happen, I want the security of knowing that I will have a clean, safe facility to go to if I need help. I don't want women to have to resort to a coathanger or shady and unclean doctors for unwanted pregnancies. What happens if abortion is illegal again? Fucking nightmare. I can't even think about the repercussions without feeling physically ill. If you're pro-life, what do you think the punishment should be for
women who illegally have abortions? Should they get jail-time? I don't want my government forcing me to carry a child I had no intention of having in the first place and tried my best to prevent.

I don't really have time to write anymore about this issue atm, so I'll save it for discussion in the message boards. I just had to get that off my chest.

Also: Birth control and condoms should be straight-up free. Jus' sayin'.

Honestly your public stoning for premarital sex should really eliminate any need for the consdieration as to the exact punnishment for abortion. There are no unwanted pregnancies in marriage, as those are all part of God's Divine Plan.

It's a scary thought. But at least there's always Canada.

Ugh, I hear you about the difficulties. The other day, a friend of mine pestered me to buy her condoms because "she wanted to have sex but didn't want people to know", so I had to do the "dirty work". Imagine what I would have to do if abortions were illegal? :P

And the only clinic I know of that serves abortions here where I live is the only one in a fifty mile radius, as far as I can tell. (I've checked, and I live in a "big city" on the east coast.) Getting an abortion is hard enough without the legal issue.

(And not being able to use the generic version for reasons? I hear you.)

I think you should march up to those protesters and ask them if this is what Jesus would do! What if one of those poor "wayward" pregnant girls seeking an abortion was secretly Jesus in disguise, testing them and their faith? I have a feeling you would make them feel shame, just as they are doing to those women who are already in an emotional turmoil, and you would be using their own ammunition against them. Wheeee!
