Tonight I attended a talk by Dr. Craig. I think some commentary on his talk is warranted as he presented himself somewhat differently than in other talks and debates I have seen on the internet. The organizers of the talk were a collection of religious groups, specifically Christian groups and I think this factored into the way he presented himself. He went through his regular dossier of arguments, ontological, KCA, teleological but added on his understanding of the resurrection of Jesus as fact and the importance of personal witness of the holy spirit. He stated that he regards the personal witness as equally convincing as the other arguments presented.

Of course there was a question period following the lecture. Several questions were asked, a few about equivocation within the arguments, one about the relation of biblical stories to stories such as Horus and various pagan beliefs. The question I asked was regarding the personal experience of god. I asked if I was perhaps on the wrong frequency to pick this up and if so would I be held guilty for my failure to receive the signal. He responded not in his dry logical manner as when he was questioned about details of the arguments but with the suggestion that I must be either too wicked or self centered to receive the holy spirit or that I was good enough but had not received it yet. He then offered that he would pray that I find the holy spirit.

What I take away from that he really just sunk back to a level of personal born again evangelism, and did so shamelessly and with his characteristic grin on his face. I can't help but have come to think he is an evangelical wolf attempting to pull a sheep`s wool of philosophy over himself.
