Let's get something straight.

Not everyone that's perceived as a bitch is actually unhappy.

Let's get another thing straight.

I'm a bitch.

Knowing just what to say and when to say it is a talent of mine.

If the words I type piss you off, usually that was my exact intention. Thanks for playing.

Please don't mistake my mockery for misery. I'm not unhappy, in fact, I'm  laughing at you right  now.

Laughter=happy. Ta-da!

That said.....It's quite amusing to be accused of anger/bitterness/bad aura/whatthefuckever the minute I pull out the big red 'A' card. (Even when I'm behaving myself.)

More than likely it's all coincidence, but it's been a repetitive theme this week.

Just out of curiosity, I did a site search to see just how many times "Angry' came up in discussion.

It's a surprisingly sparse subject here, actually. That's why I'm writing this.

What does it mean to be angry?

I'm not talking about an emotional reaction to justified stimuli. People get angry. That's part of the human experience.

I'm not even talking about the psychological evolution that takes place under oppression, stress or threat. I'd say young minority men should have a disproportionate down tick on the happy scale in America. Bullshit makes people angry, but generally, if you remove the shit, the core personality remains the same.

What is the psychological make-up of someone that's perpetually angry? Does it stem from helplessness or the sense of helplessness?

The angriest people I know are affluent older white men, truth be told.

I think the majority of people mistake the word 'mean' for 'angry' when dealing with atheists.

A person can be mean and happy at the same time. Hell, sometimes being mean actually makes me happy!  I've never seen anyone angry and happy simultaneously.

I'm beyond satisfied with my life.  Seriously. I wake up every day looking forward to each minute.

I'm a homebrewer. I'm a stoner that loves to debate for the sake of debate. Discussion makes me happy, not angry. Perhaps that accusation is a projection of the speaker, and not so much of a reflection on my own behavior. I say things that piss people off. Maybe it's their own emotions they are trying to express, not mine.

Hmmm....

I have a mean streak that expresses itself by making fun of the less intellectually gifted , arrogant , willfully ignorant theists among us , but angry ? No , I'm certainly not angry .

Im angry because I didn't get a hug from you lol

Nah but in reality Im not an angry person. Life is too short to be angry. I don't know when I will die, can be any minute, who knows, that's I try to stay happy and smiling as much as possible to enjoy the beat of my own life. I used to be more of an aggressive Atheist back when I first became an Atheist, nowadays its more so, live and let live, and don't bother me as I won't bother you.

Most Theists think I am an “angry Atheist”. They are mistaking anger for my complete disdain for their religious views. I am tired of them expecting that I just respect their faith because they believe in what I consider to be nonsense. Sometimes when I hear adults tell me that they believe in gods and immortality I no longer even feel embarrassed for them. I just dismiss it and find it difficult to cultivate any further relationship with them. I will engage with them in debate until the faith card is played – as it always is.

Does that make me condescending or arrogant? I suppose it could be viewed that way. But don’t mistake it for anger - I would have to care about their beliefs to get angry. It is when they try to force changes to the civil law or abuse people with their faith as justification for their actions that I will get militant and try to close them down. Whatever anger I feel will have its energy transferred into stopping them.

There is an anti-blasphemy law in Ireland to protect religion. I openly blaspheme about the pope helping to spread Aids while admiring the Islamic sense of humor. I am not angry though. I laugh at the reactions. I look forward to the day they take me to court and hand me that book to swear on. Who could turn down the chance for such blasphemy?

Really I am too chilled out and having so much fun with it all to be angry.  But why are some Atheists so angry?……..ok Greta video here.

Pat Condell, Reggie?

Really? Really?

Comment by Reg The Fronkey Farmer on May 14, 2013 at 5:18pm

yeah - the problem with Pat Condell is that he just won't speak his mind. If only he would just spit it out and say what he means. ha.

I think to answer that question we have to look at things from the point of view of a theist.

A theist thinks of god as the most kind and loving being in the universe that loves you indefinably and the only thing that he asks from you is obedience (mainly in the form of belief or admiration of his greatness)

Now, think about it. God is so kind and loving, and instead we atheist choose to disbelief. In other words we disobey.

Who are people that disobey?

Rebellious people. People who are unhappy with their situation.

To a theist. Atheist are like children who are angry at their father and decided to rebel, and therefore the only thing that can explain our rebellion is unhappiness.

Also, theist can not imagine happiness without god, so not believing in god must mean you are unhappy.

This is the only way I can explain this mistake that theist make on a regular basis.
