I saw this video on google tech talks. It talks about the war on drugs and why it has failed. How can government expect to defeat 500 billion dollar profit industry with a 50 billion dollar investment?

Its common sense if people are prohibited and asked to not do something more than anything they will end up doing that. If something is repressed it comes back stronger. Check out the below video to see to get more information about what I am talking about

why war on drugs has failed

What this war on drugs has achieved is sending record number of African americans, hispanics and minorities to jail. The European countries are doing much better in combating drugs by legalizing them, educating the kids and younger generation about the vagaries of drugs and reducing the number of drug users. Its time to take help of psychologists, neurologists, scientists, doctors and formulate a plan to combat and defeat this problem.

Simply put, the government does not have any business in telling people what they can and can not put in their body. Alcohol legal, tobacco legal, fast food, legal, drugs illegal. Educate the people to all the effects of the substances and let them make the decision if they want to do them or not.
