Why I DON'T Accept Jesus Christ As My Lord And Savior.

I Do NOT Accept Jesus Christ.

As My Lord And Savior.

Because I Do Not Believe.

That Someone Else Should Be Punished.

For MY Actions.

Also.

I Do Not Believe.

That I Should Be Punished.

For The Actions.

Of Someone Else.

Plain.

And.

Simple.

I can't help to read that without a mental William Shatner narration.

Well said Horacio, no need for scapegoating !

I can't help to read that without a mental William Shatner narration.

Please, Captain, not in front of the Klingons.

How about the whole concept is totally ridiculous?

Besides, he told lies.

He promised: "Ask of me anything and in my Father's name I will do it."
Ask him to heal all the children with cancer in the world, he won't even do that.

If you want to bear the full brunt of responsibility for all you have and haven't done and wanted to do, for the record of all your secret thoughts, etc., indeed there is a "track" for that on Judgment Day. I would "caution" (an understatement) that this is not a well-advised choice by any means, but if being left to stand on your own two feet is what you really want, the "good" news is that the Judge is ready to fully honor your request.

@Zachary

The same question we ask every theist...

Which "Judge"?
Why not any of the other ones... What testable evidence made you conclude that your particular deity is the right choice?

I would "caution" (an understatement) that this is not a well-advised choice by any means, but if being left to stand on your own two feet is what you really want, the "good" news is that the Judge is ready to fully honor your request.

You, my friend are sadly wrong.
The "Judge" cares not for our good deeds. He is only interested in obedience and worship. He might honor our request, but no matter what we did, we are doomed for the hell he prepared for his children.

Romans 10:13 "For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Romans 21:8 "But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

2 Thessalonians 3:6 "Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us."

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

1 Timothy 2:15 "But women will be saved through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety."

So, tell me, how is this a fair judge? What court would allow a judge to rule on the lives of people, not based on the quality of their deeds, but on how much they worship the judge.

Even if any of this nonsense held a grain of truth, I would still take hell over worshiping a monster like Yahweh. The simple fact, that you are okay with a human sacrifice, because it's blood washes off your sins, makes me sick.

The simple fact that you made sure to put quotations around "good" shows how disgusting your view is. You emphasize that we will be judged. that we will be given no defense, simply because we refuse to accept a sacrifice that was forced on us to accept, and you relish the fact that we will be punished for refusing to walk alongside a genocidal, infanticidal, misogynistic, racist, homophobic, monster, you call god.

Uhm...thanks?

I know that fear is a powerful weapon and an effective tool used by religion, but I have lost that fear because I have seen many "Christians" in my town that are some of the most corrupt and hideous people that I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. And if God is going to forgive them their atrocious sins and allow them into Heaven and cast me into the pits of Hell of simply not believing and when the only sin I have committed is being BORN, then fine. That doesn't make my heart skip a beat for a single nanosecond.

If you are gonna look at me with a vile eye for being an Atheist and then look at these "Christians" as something to admire when they have committed far worse sins that I EVER Could, well then you don't need Jesus. You need Logic and Reason.

I don't relish it at all. When I put "good" in quotation marks what I was trying to express was that  I meant "good" (in some sense) from the perspective of the OP, merely in the sense that he will be able to "get what he wants". In like manner, you said, "I would still take hell over worshiping a monster like Yahweh," and so, quite sadly and reluctantly, I would say to you that the "good" news for you is that you will be able to get what you want as well. It is certainly not at all good from my perspective, but I am saying that you will be able to get exactly what you want, which I guess is "good" from your perspective.

I hope that helps to clarify. I do apologize for causing any misunderstanding. I do not rejoice in the damnation of anybody.

Zachary,  It is admirable that you don't relish our alleged damnation.  I have been told that Christians have tried to save me because they care about me and do not want me to suffer the fate of the unbeliever.  What people, possibly including yourself, don't understand is that I refuse to believe out of fear.  That just doesn't compute.  It's nonsensical and ineffective.

The irony is that I am not against a divine being or an afterlife, but Christians push their version so much it clouds the issue and pushes me farther away.  I could, possibly, entertain the thought that there might be a god of some kind if only Christians would stop insisting this implausible and obtuse story of Jesus is part of it.  Christians who want me to believe in Jesus out of fear of being forever separated from God are wanting me to run before I can walk or fly when I can only jump.  It's such a backwards approach and it just leaves me shaking my head in wonder at the uselessness of it.

And lastly, you will not hear me trying to convince you that you are wrong.  I don't care what you believe.  My interest is in what Christians are trying to coerce me into believing.  My psyche just doesn't work that way.  I wish Christians would just be happy with their beliefs and leave others alone without having to have that last word...( ie.  Ok, it's your choice, but you rejected Jesus and you will suffer the consequences.)

Milos, Thank you for such succinct clarity. Defending god must be difficult. Good thing they know they are right or it seems impossible.
