Why a football player might offer prayer after scoring a touchdown?

  • Maybe because he taught religion by parents since he was kid in bible studies, sunday school?
  • Maybe he went through very stressful times and he found it very comforting to believe in god?
  • Maybe he constantly taught in the church that being religious is a good thing?
  • Maybe he was taught in the church by the preacher who picked and choose only the good parts of the bible left out the mean and the voilent parts?
  • He has been working his tail off to get into football in schools, college and nfl he did not have enough time to study science classes?
  • Maybe the peer pressure all his friends and family are religious and he wants to fit in?
  • Or maybe he thinks god picks sides he may chose him over the another person in oppossing team because he has a direct line with god?

He obviously hasn't read his bible.  I wish more christians would take this to heart (put prayer in school my ass!):  “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.  But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Matthew 6: 5-6
