What would Jesus do? According to Uganda, imprision and attempt to execute gays!
A lawmaker in majority-Christian Uganda is trying to pass a bill that would execute HIV+ homosexuals. How very Christian of them. From the article:
"We have our children in schools to protect against being recruited into" homosexuality, Bahati said. "The process of legislating a law to
protect our children against homosexuality and defending our family
values must go on." The country's parliament is expected to debate the
measure in late February or early March.
The most frightening thing about this is how similar it sounds to the excuses people use in the US to be hateful bigots regarding homosexuality. Isn't the point of being a Christian to be Christ-like? How is this kind of legislature in any way compatible with the supposedly loving and forgiving nature of Jesus?
Also, side note, I wondered for a while whether I should post this as a blog or as a discussion...how do you decide what to post where?

I was just talking on the chat to Maysan about the inhumane treatment of Alan Turing which led to his suicide in 1954. Homosexuality was illegal here until 1967. I hope Uganda doesn't take a step backward.

Exactly, Johan. Those Christians who might claim that killing a sick person isn't something Jesus would condone are worshiping a non-biblical Christ without even realizing it. Those that agree with and worship the actual Christ of the bible - who it seems would have no problem executing sick gay people - are just plain frightening.
