I find it ridicules that a teaching that promotes love and tolerence would treat anyone without respect...but then again religeon doesen't have a good track record...

Welcome to TA Ashley.  I too go through the same things, however, with friends and not family.  Luckily few of my family are religious.  I have been getting a lot of hateful comments (especially from facebook) and had to stop posting Atheist stuff on there to keep this part of my life seperate.  It's not that I am embarrased about my Atheism, it's just I run a business... and well no need to explain more.  I love being here on TA, I hope you find the same.

I'd say keep a positive attitude and appreciate your place in it all. Christianity's on its deathbed, so focus on the future. And of course don't take it too seriously. We live in a world of clowns. Sure, they try to kill each other sometimes, but they're still clowns.

My entire family are devout Christians. I am forced to attend a Christian school, thank batman that's almost over. I have to attend church as well.  The only atheists I know are on the internet or extended family members.  Life is ridiculous.

I'm so glad to be here on Think Atheist. Thank you all for your warm welcomes :) It's funny to me that in the few days I've been a part of this online community, I've felt so much more welcome than I ever did stepping foot in any church. Thank you everyone!

Hey Ashley, we have all been in the same boat as you in fact most of us still are. There is a war going on for you mind. If you are thinking you are winning. Resistance is victory. Just keep that in mind. and feel free to message me sometime as I am pretty lonely sometimes too lol

Welcome to TA. Whatever you do don't worry too much - you are surely the sane one in your family. If you want to talk to rational people I'm sure you will find some here.

But be warned - we also have a few crazy people here ;)
