U.S. Air Force Does Away With Enlistment Oath Option.

Until October 30 of last year there was an option to omit the words "so help me God" from the enlistment oath required by recruits/re-enlisting veterans of the USAF. Now they have dropped this option and made it statutory to pay homage to a god during enlistment/re-enlistment.

Two steps forward, one step backwards.....sheesh...

I start to wonder if they do this just to piss people off. Or.....maybe they're doing their share to ramp up for the upcoming presidential election. If they piss off enough secular groups they can (try) use that as leverage for the GOP's "military speech" and yada yada.....just a thought.

What surprises me is that our military leadership even gives such consideration. Religion is not at the forefront of military life for most in uniform. "Nondenominational" was the best I could do when my dog tags were issued.

The Air Force, of all the branches of the Armed Services, has been noted for being thoroughly corrupted by anti-constitutional theocrats.
