In John 1:1, it reads:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (KJV)
A strange passage. Here, the Word, that is, Jesus, is claiming to be his own father.
The bible defies the imagination.
Comment by Galen on March 13, 2011 at 5:59am That's not at all an unusual statement since it's a foundational part of the Christian doctrine that Jesus and God were the same being, only in different forms. Jesus is the "son" of God in the way that Boba Fett was the "son" of Jango Fett (for those not into Star Wars, Boba Fett was a clone of Jango Fett, the former raised like a son by the latter). So Jesus was a human-form clone of God, reintegrated back into God after his mortal death.
Yes, it IS silly, but not a bad story, really. If taken for its merits as a story, it's pretty imaginative for 2,000 years ago.
