This is from a post on r/Atheism. A kid wrote a college essay on his atheism and sent it to his father to proofread. His father was unaware that he was an atheist. Below is the father's response. I only hope I can turn into such a loving and respectful parent for my two children as well.
Will, I didn't raise you to think like me. I raised you to think. And that's clearly what you are doing as your explain your beliefs in this essay. This essay is beautifully done. The topic is powerful. You construct original thinking on it. You avoid easy ideas. The sentences flow well, and your vocabulary is mature, startling and precise. I'd say it's the best thing you've ever written, and you should change nothing in it. Love, Dad.
