The Man Next to Me is Made of Staw... and His Arguments Suck

Tonight I started a discussion with my religious friend about immortality. I was interested in talking about the problems it would pose, such as population ect, and the solutions and products of those solutions. The conversation soon sidetracked.

He asked me what marriage would mean if we all lived for a very long time. I said it would mean the same thing today, depends on the couple. If people are going to stay together, they will. If they want a divorce, they will get one, and that's ok, there's no reason for me to dictate whether they should or not.

Apparently that means I think marriage is a sham and not important. That parents don't care for their children when going through divorce, and that people should just sleep around if their married, since their already breaking their vows.

yeah, not my stance.

What if they have no kids and can't stand the sight of each other?

That's what I said. Apparently if you're going to make the vows, you've got to stand by them forever and ever, even if both of you are miserable together
