The Dream and Reality of organised religion

The dream  of religion is worshipping God and going to heaven.

The reality of religion is to over power people and single out everything else.

This includes not thinking for yourself, constantly fearing the unknown, and controlling what people do, and giving then only 2 choices which is obey or die.

It defeats the purpose of freewill, and confuses people on right and wrong.

I agree with most of this.  There are a couple parts I don't agree with.  The first is "constantly fearing the unknown."  Religion provides what atheism cannot.  100% certainty (through faith).  Faith is a knowledge-acquisition method that comes to the conclusion "there is a god," through no empirical evidence whatsoever.  It's crude, but it takes away peoples' fear of the unknown.

The other thing I'd question here is 2 choices: obey or die.  Today, I live in a society of very passive Christians (speaking from within the USA).  Most of them believe in God (though, ironically many of them don't bother to read their own scriptures), but very few of them have ever become directly hostile.  Many pastors and Jehovah's Witnesses go about things in a very passive way, because they know that if they become extreme, it will deter people from their beliefs.
