The Double Standard of Christians

So I am driving down the road the other day and see this huge hiddeous old clawfoot bathtub stood upright and partially burried as to make like a little cubby. If you live in any area that has a large Mexican population you know what iam talking about, if not then i will try and explain. These folks take a clawfoot bathtub and make a shrine to beat all shrines. There is a statue of, i guess, the virgin mary or something in this little cubby provided by the upsidedown bathtub. There are bricks laid down as to provide a walk way to get to the thing and lets not forget the candles. A full on worship extravaganza. Now somebody please correct me if i am wrong but from what i have read and what i have been taught when i was a youth at brainwash camp there is a commandment that these folks have in there list of things that " god " said to not to do and it says tho shalt not worship false idols. That is straight out of the old testament which has to be validated by christians in order to validate their crazy beliefs. If i remember correctly the one they call Moses went up the hill and was gone for a long time "talking to god " or trippin, you decide as ther is no body to back up the story once you get this far back, but anyway Moses is gone awhile and the people get restless and want to worship something,which by the way is a common practice among humans all over the globe at this point in history. Even among peoples that exisit on completely different continents. So Moses`s people build a golden calf and start to worship it, Moses comes down off the hill and freaks out and says that god told him to tell you to " not worship false idols ". Logic would dictate that since no person has ever returned from a visit with god so there for no person has a clear description of what god looks like to errect a statue so no statues. Well, have you ever been in a Cathloic church? wow ! statues all over the place and people kneeling and bowing and the busts and full life statues of people they call saints. Its enough to ask WTF .

Idol worshipping is so much easier than the worship of an abstract and invisible diety...

The Virgin Mary and the Saints are on God's side.

The Golden Calf had nothing to do with God, that is why Moses was pissed off.

The Golden Calf IS a "FALSE idol" because it had nothing to do with God.

If they would have made an Idol of the Egyptian gods or any other gods, then Moses would have been just as pissed off.

The Virgin Mary and the Saints are not false idols because they are a part of God and Jesus Christ.

That is why Catholics don't see a problem with those statues, because they are not "false idols", because they represent those that are on God's side.

And it is not the statue that is being worshiped.

They are worshiping Mary and the Saints.

P.S. I Am an Atheist. I understand your problem with this, but there are more things in the Bible that will get a bigger WTF! out of people than this.

This is almost like the history of corporations:

"It was long accepted that 'Worship no false idols" meant that no idols at all were to be worshipped. However, the marketing department, eying a large untapped market, though that the wording was weak. They therefore requested the legal department to review the contract, and the legal department agreed that, though common understanding extended to all idols, the text did indead specify that there were only to be no worshipping of false idols. The marketing department then contacted the design and production departments, which came up with a great many product ideas, some of which almost immediately entered production. These ended up becoming blockbuster hits and created a vast cash flow for the organization."

@Arcus

That is awesome. I might have to copy and paste that onto my wall somewhere.

And the ones in catholic Ireland are even known to "move" or sometimes they are seen to "cry". If you hear one cursing and swearing and praising satan that's the one I left the hidden speakers under.
