I would like to thank everyone on this site regardless of everything for keeping me sane. I live against my own will in a tiny remote rural village due to my age (19 years - I am still reliant on my parents) and often in times of depression or whatever I experience, it's nice to have a constant: this website. Whether going through the cliched arguments with YouTubers, or merely debating with my peers, this site has always remained a steady force of reason, a community of people more open-minded than anyone could hope to be, and I value it more than almost anything else on the entire inter-web. These are my thoughts, which I rarely publicise, but I feel so secure in these surroundings of genuinely good people that the embarrassment barrier simply no longer exists here. Please don't give up reasoning against fallacies. Please don't give up because it seems like the battle against untruth will never be won. It has to be. It will be.

On a side note, if anyone wants to use this in a movie, feel free.

Sincerely,

Anti-theist Henry.

actually we are looking to your generation to bring in a tidal wave of sanity - we are the fore-runners, but your peers and you will be the tsunami of sense and logic which will expand exponentially :)  Never give up, the whole world needs you.

Thank you Strega. With a name like mine I certainly hope to be a tsunami of sense and logic. We can but pray. ;)

Hi Henry, I feel the same way about this place. Strega is correct, the whole world needs you..however they do not even know it! When I get bummed, I just loop this for a while.

Thank you in return, Henry, for not giving up. We're outnumbered but in distinguished company.

I remember what it was like to be in your situation: the price of my room and board was a game of religious play-along. Luckily, I could afford that kind of rent.

I joined the U.S. Coast Guard at 17 years old on the GI Bill, a program that pays for college. That was my way out and path to self-reliance. It was a challenge, as even in the military I was surrounded by religious crackpots, and mostly had to keep my mouth shut.

But it went by fast. Then I went to a liberal university with a thriving community of freethinkers. There I was finally able to be myself and live on my own terms.

You'll figure everything out in your own good time. We all do. So hang in there!

If find that just getting away from 'culture' helps to find some clarity. Nature seems to offer validation for few delusions. Being around family, while a socializing influence, can also be a source of nuttyness modeling. After spending two days with family this month, I find that getting away from them is a peaceful breath of fresh air.
