Ted Haggard: The Joke That Won't Go Away

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/Religion/post/2010/06/ted-h...

This guy is actually starting a new church. Really? Really?

I guess he doesn't have much of a choice with no marketable skills to make a living doing anything else. Maybe selling meth or becoming a male prostitute, who knows? That would be FUN and PROFIT, right?

He's pretty smart for starting a new church. There are plenty of gullible people out there to give him money. Plus, he pays no taxes.

Hmmm. I think I'm going to start a church. I could use a good tax write off!

He's going to spin his drug/prostitute/homosexual past as divine revelation and personal growth. And the followers are going to flock back because of his bravery, honesty, and strength. Not inner strength, of course, but strength and faith with God.
I will never understand how it is possible to police a system of morality within a system in which it is so easy to be divinely forgiven for ones perceived transgressions.
Ted Haggard is an uninformed, dangerous ass responsible for disseminating misinformation. Men like him will always be wealthy at the expense of the desperate, ignorant masses.
