It's so illogical. And you're absolutely right: you can't be mad at something that doesn't exist. If people recognize that you're an atheist, they should notice this. Otherwise, they must be implying that you're mad at the very non-existence of a God...as if that makes any sense either. I'm not looking for a God; I'm not looking for divine answers; if I wanted him to exist, I could build the idea of 'God' up in my mind just like every Christian and substitute logic for 'belief.'
If I wanted something to be mad at, I could weave some deity in my brain. Just like every other theist does.

Its just part of the superiority complex inherent in most religions. Their religion is superior to all others, therefore no one of any other religion can possibly be as happy as them, because they are the only ones who have Truth (whatever that means. So far, no one I've asked has ever been able to define this "truth" they claim to have). The Momos are always telling me that reading the book of mormon will make me happier, as if my life has been empty and meaningless without it. They jus itt can't comprehend that a person can find meaning and happiness without it. And I bet most other religions feel the same way.

Religion had the opposite effect on me. It made me unhappy. Now I'm angry at the IDEA of God.

It's one of the common clichés from the religious that Atheists are "poor confused souls who've been struck by loneliness and tragedy and is now mad at god"

I think the best way that I've debunked this is to show them the opposite. I have a great career, I have a wife (which has an incredibly yummy pussy), the first car I bought is my favorite car, the Mustang GT, and I've bought it at the age of 26, and I live a happy life giving donations to charities, going on hiking trips, fine dining, etc.

Wow, their god must probably a chick who prefers men who are bad to the bone: "Why you, how dare you not believe in me! Here's your reward! mmph! coming up a foot massage!"

And then in turn I explain to these ignoramuses, "non-belief in a god is just not solely caused by tragedies, mental depression, hopelessness, or even homosexuality... some move to another phase in human evolution because we can think rationally and logically conclude that deities are nothing but imaginary things".

PS: There are two types of Atheists. The weak atheists, who've became a non-believer because they lost reasons to believe in a god, and the Strong Atheists, who really had a rational thought that this universe couldn't have been controlled by such beings.

I'd be mad at god, if he existed. I think he is a terrible character he's not even a cool villain. Dath Vader would be just as evil if he had the power, but he's cool, God just sucks. lol

This one is pretty common - I get it a lot from old friends who are still back in the church. My family thinks I'm just being 'rebellious'. Apparently "The Strong-Willed Child" didn't work too well for them.

Yeah, I hear that. It also reminds me of when I criticize god for allowing evil. They often say "so you want everything for free do you?" Yeah, sure, why not? The only reason we value a hard work ethic is because that's what gains us things in this world becuase of the way it's made up. There would be nothing non-virtuous about getting things for free if we all could have it that way, which god could have done. Religious people who say those types of things are simply dumb IMO.

It is very similar to those people that are against science preventing aging, "because we have to grow old and die is the nature of things... "you would lose the love of life if you didn't grow old." That type of thing.
