I think its probable that humanity or our evolutionary descendants could survive throughout the remainder of our universe's life. And if we can last that long we will probably have learned enough to hop over to a neighboring universe before the death of our own.
Comment by Bill Williams on February 20, 2012 at 10:54am That's an optimistic thought indeed. There are many more ways for things to go wrong (human extinction), than for things to go right. Remember that we are hominids with deeply flawed brains, as demonstrated by the unimaginable stupidity of our collective behavior today. Add billions of years for something to go wrong and and the probability is nearly 0.
I put my money on human extinction.
