In an article in the Christian Post Reporter the author opens with the following comment:
"World famous atheist, Christopher Hitchens, made a surprising revelation recently that his former debate opponent, outspoken evangelical scientist Francis Collins, is behind a new experimental cancer treatment that he is using."
Why is it so surprising to believers that Hitchens would would like, give credit to or even thank someone with opposing beliefs? Hitchens, to my knowledge, admires and respects those with opposing views and generally speaks highly of his debate partners. So the quote "surprising revelation" above just makes me laugh at the continued laugh-ability of the right. Are they so ignorant that they would think that just because one is an atheist it equates to an automatic contempt of the other side? Oh wait, I get it, just because they treat people that way, they assume we do as-well, that makes more sense.

Spot on with that sentence Robert.
They mistake us for hate mongers and that we're pissed off all the time.
Plus if someone is working on something that would actually help then why wouldn't we give credit and.or thanks to.
