It might seem early to start talking about this but the reality is that people are going to at least begin to think about starting their holiday shopping. We'd like to ask that you consider using this link for all your Amazon.com purchases (not just books!). When you do so, though you'll pay no more for your purchases (and they'll ship just as fast), Think Atheist and Think Atheist Radio will get a small percentage of Amazon's profit. This will ensure we can keep the site up, make improvements, and afford research materials and recording equipment for the show. We'd really appreciate your help! Add it to your bookmarks so you don't forget!

This week on Think Atheist Radio we feature our chat with Ms. Katherine Stewart. Ms. Stewart is a journalist. She began her career at The Village Voice and has written for Newsweek International, Rolling Stone, and Marie Claire. After publishing two books on parenting in the modern age she was moved to research and author a new book, published recently, on the Good News Club. The Good News Club: The Christian Right's Stealthy Assault on America's Children exposes the reality of
the Christian evangelical group called the Good News Club and their covert attempts to sidestep the Establishment Clause of The Constitution, creeping into America's public school system in order to proselytize to young children. The extent to which your jaw will drop in shocked rage at the things this group is doing is directly related to how much attention you're paying to Ms. Stewart's exposé. You may have seen her writing on the topic for The New York Times, The Guardian, and The Daily Beast. Now she joins us!

Maarten Boudry, Belgian philosopher of science and past guest of Think Atheist Radio, has announced that he recently pulled a Sokal-style hoax by submitting a postmodernist-sounding, theologically serious sounding abstract to two theology conferences. The abstract was accepted and the abstract plus what its acceptance means, it's just hilarious.

Comment by Mike Laing on September 30, 2012 at 2:11am I get sent to the Canadian site for Amazon, and the referrer code gets stripped. I put my cursor at the 'm' in .com and changed it to .ca, so it preserved the referrer code. For Cabada then, the link is http://www.amazon.ca/?_encoding=UTF8&tag=thinkatheistradio-20&a...

Comment by Michael R on September 30, 2012 at 9:44am While reading about the amount of mis-information coming out of Fox news about climate change, it occurred to me...how much mis-information am I receiving from the primary news channels about other major topics? It would be interesting to see how they stack up to one another.
Comment by Ed on September 30, 2012 at 11:24am Mr. Boudry's faux but accepted abstract at the theological conferences was certainly evidence that gobbledygook remains a main course in the diet of theologians.
Comment by Ed on September 30, 2012 at 11:58am On leftist GMO hysteria, there doesn't seem to be strong clear cut evidence that GMO food crops are necessarily detrimental to one's health in and of themselves. My problem with them, or at least those modified to have a higher tolerance to pesticide use, is my uncertainty as to what applied chemicals used during their cultivation remains on the plant sitting upon that grocery store shelf.
Comment by Wesley on September 30, 2012 at 10:00pm LOL.. I felt my brain turning to goo while reading Boudry's faux paper... Hilarious that it was accepted. I bet that the people who accepted it were embarrassed to reveal that they didn't understand it but because it seemed to put Darwin, Dawkins and Materialism down at the same time it got the pass.
