This week on the Think Atheist Radio Show– our 52nd show; one full year's worth of killer interviews for you guys!– we're featuring our interview with Dr. Chris Impey, author of the new book How It Began all about origins, of the universe, of life; how it all began!
Dr. Impey is a University Distinguished Professor at the University of Arizona. Upon the release of Bart Ehrman's new book on Jesus historicity– Did Jesus Exist? The Historical Argument for Jesus of Nazareth (hear our interview with Ehrman here)– he posted a piece to the Huffington Post about the book. Richard Carrier responded to point out some logical fallacies and some errors of fact he found in Ehrman's post. Professor of Religion James McGrath responded to Carrier's piece to defend Ehrman. This week Carrier replied to McGrath's defense of Ehrman. You get the sense that McGrath is out of his league. Schedule an email reminder for yourself so you don't miss our upcoming interview with Richard Carrier where he addresses many of Ehrman's claims.
Avatar and Titanic director James Cameron is back topside after diving 7 miles down into the deepest point on Earth. But is this serious science or just a rich guy's way to spend his gobs of cash? After all, what can you do with the single cup of mud he brought back with him? (SPOILER ALERT: A LOT!!!)
Tons of Reason Rally impressions with pics and video out there. Hemant Mehta's is representative. A bit wet but not bad. Great turn out. Huge success. Though some certainly questioned Richard Dawkins' speech.

Comment by luvtheheaven on April 1, 2012 at 3:46am Wow the gallop poll numbers... I kinda believe it though. ;) If only we could get the full over 30% to openly admit they're non-religious and give it up all the way to atheism lol. :P
Comment by Nelson on April 1, 2012 at 3:48am Agreed! Once day soon hopefully! We just have to keep doing what we're doing, what we've been doing to get to this point, and more! :)
Comment by Gary Bergeron on April 1, 2012 at 10:13am The article showing the religiosity by state, I think, is a little low for Louisiana(54%), unless I'm living in a concentrated religious bubble area of the state.
The lack of education is glaring. Gov. Bobby Jindal is revamping the education system, opting for school vouchers for religious private schools. There is not one educator present in the committees!! The teachers are being shunned from having a say-so in the process!!
...And so many people over here think Jindal is such a great guy...(!)
It is shameful that the Monkey Bill has gotten this far. The anti-science brigade has being pushing their “alternative” ideas for so long and with enough force that they have managed to create enough confusion to make it seem plausible that there is some merit to what they have on offer is a viable alternative to the modern scientific consensus. At least as “The Onion” reported children will no longer just be given the facts to learn. I suspect that Tennessee is only the first and other will rally for the same “equality” if it is passed.
Comment by James on April 1, 2012 at 7:08pm Amazing class this week!
Comment by Skycomet the Fallen Angel on April 2, 2012 at 12:54pm About the Catholic Hospital Forced Adoptions: I find it INFURIATING that the same individuals who identify as the most "pro-life" "pro-family" and "pro-child" would engage in BABY SNATCHING of newborn infants simply because they were born to single women. They should be ASHAMED of themselves! How DARE they claim to be for the rights of infants and families when they steal babies right out of their mothers' arms!
