The scale of the Universe was awesome.
The scale of the ignorance infecting the Texas school board is frightening. What's next? The Preamble to the Constitution beginning like this: We, the conservative christians in order to form a more perfect religious cabal?
Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana is pushing for new rules on evaluating what should be taught in science classes across the state; shouldn't that be determined by scientists and/or science educators? This is the sickness that keeps Louisiana education dead last in the nation.
What a shame...
Great service as always, Johnny. Thanks a bunch and Happy Sunday!

Another great service! That visualization of the scale of the universe is amazing.

Wow, the debate over Texas textbooks still blows my mind. I attended grades K-12 in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and was consequently stunned in my first semester of community college in Texas to hear my biology teacher mention "the creationism controversy." I think that I laughed at first, assuming that he was joking. I was--and still am--completely baffled to think that this is a serious debate in creating the statewide curriculum. It would be laughable except for the impact that Texas' curriculum choices have upon most other states' textbooks. I suppose political history is more about selective inclusion and therefore more subjective than biology, but the two agendas seem insensibly intertwined by the religious right.
