Kaman
One other very important situation where lies are necessary: Undercover police work. If they told the truth regarding who they are and what their motives are how would they ever solve any crime?

I suggest you read this kaman. It may help you understand my point of view.:

In was waiting for a train recently in the cafe before going through the barrier, when I was approached by an elderly man asking whether the seat next to me was free. I said yes and carried on reading my paper. He asked where I was going and then why and I told him that it was in relation to my charity. He then said "so you're a christian woman?" I replied that no I wasn't! He said "Oh I assumed that because you are involved in charity work that you are a christian!" I started to lose it by saying "why do you people assume that because human beings do nice things for other human beings, that it has to have a basis in religion?" He tried and tried to convince me, then he tried to push a small parcel my way, saying "I know you don't believe, but I would like you to accept this." I asked what it was and he said "The New Testament" at which point I pushed the parcel back to him. He tried again and I started to get angry, telling him that I was insulted. He looked a bit shocked as I added, "why do you people think that because those of us who do not believe in God or whatever, are lacking something in our lives?" He backed away, looking thoroughly beaten and headed for the exit. I think these sad people target lone travellers and make up some story about why they are travelling. It is so arrogant and I would not insult anyone by doing this, trying to convince complete strangers of my beliefs! I think that they believe they get credit in the great hereafter!! For that reason, I love the second quote by Kamana.

Judging from the static I have received I believe their are at least two theist in Think Atheist who are deceitfully pretending to be a-theist. BEWARE! the Devil comes in many shades and his favorite color appears to be white.

Thank you Kamana.. you have my absolute assurances that 1. I am not pretending and 2. That I will be even more aware of the devil's disguises from now on.. this one was in the form of a seemingly harmless grey haired old man! Oh and I am hoping to go to London to protest against the pope's visit. I think he should be arrested when he sets foot on Uk ground as an accessory to child abuse!!

Religion is mankind;s oldest organized criminal activity, first begun in ancient India hundreds of millions of years ago when India was yet a part of south africa, some 2300 miles away from where it is now. Pedophilia was an integral part of those cowardly criminal gangs just as it is now. I remember a gay parade in San Francisco in which a banner stating :Jesus Was Gay!' was followed shortly by another banner claiming that 'God Is Gay!' and I remember thinking to myself 'These queers are more honest then those christians.'
