Such a long treatise for what should be a very simple explanation... Any brain time spent on stupid things is brain time NOT spent on real knowledge... but this is not only true of religion, it's also true of people addicted to gaming, or mindless hobbies or those who spend hours watching televised pro sports and countless hours of tabulating sports statistics and discussing them. When you're not learning... you're UNlearning, there's only so much time in a day - in a life - that to waste it on stupid things is a shame really.
