It fascinates me to speak to religious people, in any shape or size, because I feel like I am missing the ability to believe in a god. I believe instead in the limits of human imagination ad attribute most of modern day speculation about the beginning of the universe to this limitation. We are creatures bound to this four dimensional world and we cannot think outside these four dimensions. Why is it impossible to picture infinity, timelessness, spacelessness, non-existence..? This weakness in our minds is what leads us to believe that there must be a cause behind the universe, because we live in a causal one. When you attempt to imagine what happened before the Big Bang, you probably imagine a huge black space.. if there was a clock in there, it would probably be ticking. This is exacty where our weakness lies and this is exactly why it may not be possible to explain the Big Bang in human terms.
