Serena Williams - what did I do to deserve this?

Serena Williams has been injured since last year after cutting her foot on glass. After having two surgeries to repair her foot she suffered blood clots which travelled to her lungs and could have killed her. She was convinced to go to the hospital by her sister, Venus.

“They said it could have gotten a lot more serious a day or two later. It could have possibly been career-ending, but for the grace of God I got there in time and I was able to recover from it.”

Serena claims that the whole experience has given her a new outlook on life. “I laid on the couch for a couple of days. Just so much stuff happened to me and I just couldn’t understand why. “I kept trying to figure out what I could do different or what - not necessarily what I did wrong, just what didn’t I do or what did I do to deserve this.”

So, it was by the grace of God that she got to hospital on time. But she can’t figure out why it happened? Surely “He works in mysterious ways…” is the answer.

I don't believe there are words to accurately describe the degree of narcissism that the Christian world view produces.

I'm not sure it's her beliefs that make her a tool cause she comes across like a right cow most of the time anyway. Her beliefs just add to how annoying she is.

One memory sticks out about her. During Wimbledon one year she was being interviewed on court by Sue Barker for the BBC after her match. As the interview came to a close, Sue just wished her good luck in her next match as Serena started to walk away. She stopped, and actively came back to her to make the point "Oh, I don't believe in luck". Came across like a pratt.

She thanks "my God, Jehovah" sometimes in those interviews too.
