So first off, apparently a group of Internet Christians have been trying to get people on YouTube to... well what they're trying to do is actually my first question. I don't know what their intent is. Some of my vidder friends (we all are the vidding community because we all make fanvideos - music videos using clips from our favorite movies and TV shows) said they had received similar messages in the past. I talk to many of these vidder friends of mine on twitter, so to share my extreme annoyance at the message when I received it on December 1st, I posted a print screen image of it to twitpic.
http://twitpic.com/rrgx4 You can click on the full size button to see it in its full size... or let me try to post it as a picture here directly in the blog (this is my first ning/think atheist blog post so forgive my ineptitude LOL):

My first thought was that it was basically an Internet Christian Missionary. But they say "if you're a non-Christian, you can either ignore this or read on" and that implies that they expect Christians to be reading it too and, idk what...
benefit in some way from it? And is it just me or is all they do quote bible passages?! How do quotes alone, without analysis or context of any kind, do anything? I mean I feel like this YouTube message was not only extremely annoying... but also insanely pointless. Quite frankly, can any of you EVER imagine anyone, Christian or not, appreciating this message in any way? Really?

Then today, this psycho girl with extreme issues who used to harass me as well as some fellow vidders who liked to make videos that happened to include the character Nathan from the TV show Heroes (because she's SO obsessed with the actor who plays him, Adrian Pasdar, which you can see some evidence of because she signs the message below "Jen Pasdar") but whom I haven't spoken to in about a year probably, sent me this message (you can read the comments on the twitpic image for your own amusement):

And well... She has a lot of issues that I won't begin to name and a lot of really creepy and annoying and idiotic and obsessive tendencies. But she hasn't really spoken about religion itself to me. Until today. I don't think. Maybe I blocked it out of my memory, I don't know.
There's just something so... condescending about the way she brags about going to church
every Sunday, because she's a
good Christian. Perhaps I told her I'm not religious in the past, I don't remember. But I think there's a chance I never mentioned my own religious tendencies to her.
And then of course she gets into the truly crazy stuff. Believing that God talks to her mom. And to people. And trying to make sure I know that if God talks to me, well... I should listen.
Um... I just don't even know how
to react. What are your reactions, you guys? This is my first blog post here, I'm actually Think Atheist's newest member I think, LOL, so i'd really love some replies. I'm curious to know what you all think. And I just thought given their religious nature, they might apply to the site.
Let me know.
