So first off, apparently a group of Internet Christians have been trying to get people on YouTube to... well what they're trying to do is actually my first question. I don't know what their intent is. Some of my vidder friends (we all are the vidding community because we all make fanvideos - music videos using clips from our favorite movies and TV shows) said they had received similar messages in the past. I talk to many of these vidder friends of mine on twitter, so to share my extreme annoyance at the message when I received it on December 1st, I posted a print screen image of it to twitpic. You can click on the full size button to see it in its full size... or let me try to post it as a picture here directly in the blog (this is my first ning/think atheist blog post so forgive my ineptitude LOL):

My first thought was that it was basically an Internet Christian Missionary. But they say "if you're a non-Christian, you can either ignore this or read on" and that implies that they expect Christians to be reading it too and, idk what... benefit in some way from it? And is it just me or is all they do quote bible passages?! How do quotes alone, without analysis or context of any kind, do anything? I mean I feel like this YouTube message was not only extremely annoying... but also insanely pointless. Quite frankly, can any of you EVER imagine anyone, Christian or not, appreciating this message in any way? Really?

Then today, this psycho girl with extreme issues who used to harass me as well as some fellow vidders who liked to make videos that happened to include the character Nathan from the TV show Heroes (because she's SO obsessed with the actor who plays him, Adrian Pasdar, which you can see some evidence of because she signs the message below "Jen Pasdar") but whom I haven't spoken to in about a year probably, sent me this message (you can read the comments on the twitpic image for your own amusement): Or of course the image is here:

And well... She has a lot of issues that I won't begin to name and a lot of really creepy and annoying and idiotic and obsessive tendencies. But she hasn't really spoken about religion itself to me. Until today. I don't think. Maybe I blocked it out of my memory, I don't know.

There's just something so... condescending about the way she brags about going to church every Sunday, because she's a good Christian. Perhaps I told her I'm not religious in the past, I don't remember. But I think there's a chance I never mentioned my own religious tendencies to her.

And then of course she gets into the truly crazy stuff. Believing that God talks to her mom. And to people. And trying to make sure I know that if God talks to me, well... I should listen.

Um... I just don't even know how to react. What are your reactions, you guys? This is my first blog post here, I'm actually Think Atheist's newest member I think, LOL, so i'd really love some replies. I'm curious to know what you all think. And I just thought given their religious nature, they might apply to the site.

Let me know.

I'd just point out to her that hearing voices is more likely to be due to schizophrenia than God and she should get her mum to a doctor.

Fucking retarded. Are we supposed to believe he was just going to drop his friend a line and added all that nonsense in case he accidently sends it to a nonbeliever? And why the fuck does he give the option "read on"? It's a private message, if the only way you could recieve it was by accident, wouldn't the only polite and civilized option be to delete it as soon as you realize it's not for you?

The stupid, it burns!

There are some nutty people on YouTube. A week or so ago, I received an email message on YouTube from a Muslim trying to convert me. After we exchanged a few messages with me pointing out the logical fallacies (and in some cases outright untruths) in his arguments, and him changing the topic when backed into a corner, he stopped responding.

I get these crazy Youtube comments as well. This is one part of a letter that I just loved: "Other things have happened. A women had died in the hospital they even tagged her foot. But her family member still wanted my bishop to pray over her, ounce m bishop prayed this dead women had risen up. Now she is alive. "

I asked her the lady's name, but she didn't respond :/ Another guy wanted to lead me to Jesus because he's stupid: "There are so much question left if we only want to be reasonable / following reason. (Re)accepting God is not an easy solution or excuse, but he will teach us, everything when we live with Him. Also about the origin... He will show scientist more and more, how he made this genious universe...I can't let a flower show some nice colors, let alone a complete universe!"

Luvtheheaven, it's up to you whether to ignore them or play with them, but don't worry, you're not alone in receiving these baffling messages!

Neal - I agree completely, that was one of the first things that came to my mind. "Really, God wanted to save your life but not those 4 other people?".

Prazzie - I ignored huskylove825/Jen Pasdar and simply blocked her LOL. But yeah. I'm glad I'm not alone in receiving these types of messages LOL.

I kind of feel left out for not getting crazy messages on YouTube.

So what we should do whenever we get crazy Youtube mail is respond by saying "Allow me to introduce you to my friend, Reggie." It's really overrated, if you continue replying with rational answers, they all resort to "You atheist i feel bad for you are walking into hell my friend. How sad" or "Athiest are lost and are so confused. How sad". Those are both direct quotes. It's like they all share one makes you wonder if there could be a God and they're all plugged into him and he's really really stupid.

Well, if you are introducing them to me, then that is a different story altogether! Especially if they will tithe to me.

Ok, which one of you is responsible for this? Shockofgod wants to befriend me on youtube.

Hahaha. I like his profile pic. He looks like Jesus. You should befriend him already!
