So confirmation is coming up soon and I was thinking how kick-ass it would be to go anyways, but when he asks in front of the entire church if I profess Lutheran beliefs, to say NO. Right there. With anyone expecting anything. It would a great edgy coming out strategy, and I Think I'v worked up enough Confidence to go threw with it. How I would love to see all those people's faces flash with shock at the person They have know for years and years, saying no at the ceremony. Although I'm not sure what ill do afterwards, just like leave I guess.

Hey, this is an amazing post, why no comments!?
Noah, you should totally act on your well thought out plan. I think that since you have the confidence to go through with it, that a simple act of protest on your part could be a really important act. our world needs more public recognition for the fact that many humans do not explain the world around them through mythology but through reason and logic and science.
go for it noah. and be sure to take good notes and write up a great story of exactly how the whole thing goes down and direct quotes of people there.

This will be a memorable moment, if you go through with it.  You can tell your grandchildren all about it, decades from now.

LoL, it's a great idea.

Then Its Decided. Four weeks from now, when confirmation comes, I will say no. Maybe this will even stop my father from dragging me to church and bible study every Sunday out of sheer embarrassment of having a son who's years and years of indoctrination as failed to take a strong place in my belief system. thanks everybody, I will post how it goes when the time comes..(:

Noah, how old are you? 15? Are you at risk of any kind of punishment from your father? Hate to see you lose some freedoms over this.

It would probably still be worth it for sure, just asking!

ya I'm 15, and i don't know, I don't really see anyone punishing me for it. But hey!, if they do, and there going to be a$$holes about it, then screw them, at least I have my pride!

It is definately a better idea to have kids make their Confirmation at 15 than 12.If my Confirmation was last year I wouldn't have made it and making it is one of my regrets.Certainly hope you go through with saying no and let us know what happens.
