I've had it out for rich people for years. That shit sickens me.

Another example: Beyonce or some rich bitch got a diamond-encrusted manicure. Yeah. It lasted her maybe a week, but she spent thousands of dollars on it. She could have just PAINTED her nails and fed a village in Africa for a month (to use a worn-out cliche haha)

I do not disagree that some revel in excess while others struggle against shortage. But how would temporary contributions solve permanent problems? A direct transfer of wealth in the form of consumable resources is a band-aid solution at best. If anything, such finite altruism results in eventual cruelty by only prolonging instead of preventing starvation.

I agree with the sentiment and entirely support compassionate assistance of all human beings in need, but I think that a true solution goes far beyond simply feeding the world.

I get the whole "give fish v. teach to fish" thing, and you're right there.

My point was more along the lines of, "sure, you could sell the Vatican, but there's plenty of other sources of money, right here in America... sick-making misappropriations of resources... to throw at these problems. The problem is that not enough people care enough about other people to actually do anything."

Ah, I see. I completely agree with you there. The materialism in this country is at disgusting levels; I really cannot even fathom the money that people waste on useless things.
