During the republican debate last night a woman in the audience asked the question, "How would your religious beliefs impact the decisions you make in office?" The whole clip is here:

Ughhh. After Ron Paul it got completely disgusting. How can the US still be like this with religion? It's so mind blowing that this is what people want from their president! I think that if more people went to college and got a good education we wouldn't have such a huge religious problem in this country. I mean for such a first world nation we are really behind with our beliefs. I'm thankful that atheism is a growing group.

"Anyone who is president is faced with decisions so enormous that they should go to god."

I'm just in shock that these things are completely normal in our society. Our president should turn to god to seek guidance because the task is too large for mere mortals? I don't think they understand how crazy they sound from an atheist viewpoint. If they happen to be wrong about their beliefs then how the heck have all the previous presidents done their jobs?

Rick Santorum- if all men are created equal how come gays are treated as second class citizens still? Why are they still not allowed to marry?

The answers to this question make me sick. I cannot wait for the day when you don't need to show off your religion to get elected into office. Feel free to add your own thoughts about these candidates answers.
