Religion---World's Biggest Hypocrisy

"You don't believe in God?", "Don't you feel empty without religion?", "Don't you believe God created the universe?", "What about afterlife? Don't you want an everlasting life?".....These are some of the questions Christians throw at me. No, no, and no. I don't want any of that, and I don't feel empty without any religious beliefs. I am ostracized for being an atheist. It seems that being an atheist is something evil and bad...lol
I, then, ask them ,"Why do you believe in God?" Their answer is that nothing but....only a supreme being(God) can create a universe and everything in it. How could you not know that? My reply is that I rely more on science. Big Bang Theory and Theory of Evolution make more sense to me than ANY religions out there, period. They carp back and say that science can't be trusted. Ohh, really? And, religion can be? Well.....ex~~~~cuse me! LOL
What does history show you? Does God provides you with technology and knowledge? Without any scientific knowledge, mankind wouldn't have come this far? If God is almighty, then why didn't he revealed to those Christians that the world is round. Why? LOL!
Why do Christians accept God as a male figure? Is it because males are always right? It would make more sense if God were "sexless". Women should rise up and have their own female God/Goddess...LOL!!

The above scenario was one of many that I've encountered in my life. Of course, science is not everything and I don't believe in it 100%.(case in point, "global warming"....but this is another story).......
Like I've said previously, science is more logical than any religions. Science has flaws yet, it is the best thing for me. Certainly, it is much more reliable. Despite its flaws and shortcomings, science do change and update, unlike "faith based religions".
Where are the facts of existence of God? The facts can be found in the Good Book....but those things can't be tested. They are the collections of experiences of many people from the past. More importantly, Christians will tell you that facts are not IMPORTANT. It is not the facts but FAITH that matters the most. Religion is not grown inside the test tubes. One is committed by FAITH and BELIEF. So there, can't argue with that. How convenient...haha. This is the BIGGEST hypocrisy! It is mind-boggling, indeed!
Just as it is hard for me understand how Christians believe in God, it is just as difficult for them to understand my belief in science. I've heard that good, wholesome Christians die needlessly due to FAITH.....hoping that would cure the believer.....when a simple visit to the hospital could save one's life. It's sad really.....Where's God now? Where's God when you need him the most? It amazes me how they can "blindly" follow God. Oh, those poor sheep......

Next time, when one of the Christians ask me whether I believe in God or not, I should ask if he or she believes in Santa Claus.....hmmm

Punishment from Santa Claus: Lump of coal.
Punishment from God: Eternal torture.
Santa's body count: 0
God's body count: 2 million plus.
Reward from Santa: TOYS!
Reward from God: Sitting around for all eternity singing about HIM!
Reward for Santa: Cookies.
Reward for God: Eternal servitude.

Santa wins. God bites.

The comment I like the most when people find out I'm an atheist is as follows: "You MUST be MAD at God!"
My answer? "Yeah, and I'm mad at that bitch Santa Claus and, oh, the Easter Bunny is on my shit list as well!"

I like your essay. It would be even better without the LOL's.

i respect your view but your only focusing on christianity. i dont think the problem is god or faith i think the problem is religion. the reason i decided no to call myself a religion is because i have to many different beliefs and views on the origin and meaning of life to have a rigid mindset and follow the beliefs of others intead of thinking for myself, but im not athiest and i dont think science is the only way to find truth, its reliable, but to a certain extent

No, Linda...I meant all religion, not just Christianity....whether it's Catholicism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, or Judaism. All of it which deals with supreme being or enlighten one.......hmm, except for Confucianism and Daoism.
If I may digress.....
Unlike other major religions of the world, this so called Chinese religion (Confucianism and Daoism) is not "true" religion. Both of them lack "god"/supreme being.....although both did absorbed and incorporated some of religious elements from Buddhism in order to compete with this foreign Buddhist tenets.
Originally, Confucianism (which gave credit to him but didn't invent it) deals with how a man should behave within a society.(notice "man"...hmm, a male-chauvinist, eh?) It hardly mentions about man and god. It does hints.....RARELY.....about "heaven"......and not a "god". It is strictly between fellow men.
Original Daoism, (credited to Laozi, but unreliable and baseless) too, lacks any god figure. Daoists are concerned how a man (less strict than Confucianists) can coexist with nature......not with god. They abhor any rigid rules of social engagements. One can say they were the peace-loving "hippies" of those halcyon, bygone days, hehe......
Like Confucianists, descendant Daoists added some of Buddhist devas in its belief system. Both Confucianism and Daoism.....and to a lesser degree, Buddhism, are more akin to "philosophical views".(I'll stop here.......)

Okay.....let's return. Shall we?
Yes, science has its limitations, of course. I don't deny that......BUT, its reliability far outweighs any limitations. Look at where we are today. Look how humankind has toiled and struggled to built marvelous societies in the name of science and knowledge........not in the name of any God.
Linda, you say that you are in search of truth of origin and meaning of life.
Let me clarify by all means. Yes. I, as an atheist, said I seek truth. More specifically, I should have said "fact". Is it a fact or fiction that God exists? Any religion's god/gods for that matter..........not just Christianity. Based upon scientific facts, the answer is no. Anthropology, Archeology, Paleontology, Geology, etc. are my "religions". I don't ponder over the idea of "one can't disprove the existence of God". I could careless. I, only, react based upon factual evidences.
Furthermore, I don't relate "truth or fact" with meaning of life. My primary concern regarding "truth/fact", is the desire to know the existence of God. As of this writing, I've yet to see the light. For that metaphysical perspectives of meaning of life, I simply turn to NATURE and marvel at NATURE's beauty and grandeur. After all, what more could this NatrueBoy ask ^.^
