Last night I was bored so I got to omegle.com, a chat site of sorts. I met a Christian - I wasn't starting a fight or anything, the topic just came up and we were having a cautious but friendly conversation, but one thing annoyed me. He kept calling me a girl, several times. I warned him about this, and he responded by saying "are you female? then you are a girl" to which I said "okay, i was born inferior but i strive to get better and you don't need to remind me of my flaws like it was my fault to be born this way". I think my words were polite and clear enough. But at this point, he said "ok, now i'm gonna leave you and your psychotic bullshit. peace" and disconnected.
Now I know this sounds a bit cliché but wtf, a delusional person calling me psychotic just because I have a genetic limitation which I'm trying to overcome? At least my being female is fact, while the existence of his imaginary friend is dubious at best. And then he flees like a coward. And Christians wonder why they are regarded as assholes? Seriously, with this kind of behavior they have it coming.
Have you ever been called psychotic or something akin to that by a religious person? How do you respond to this?

Comment by Teen atheist on January 9, 2011 at 4:06pm I don't think him calling you girl and his religion are connected. He can be religious and a douche but I do not think he was calling you a girl because of his religion. I just think he calls females that. And frankly if you degrade yourself just because you are female and say you are trying to "overcome" being one, I would say that you seem a wee bit nutty.
Please do not say all christians are assholes because I know that is not true. Most of my friends are one and they are only assholes when they push their religion onto others. As much as I disagree with their beliefs, thats not what makes them an asshole. Its the way they convey it
Comment by Lilla Bertalan on January 9, 2011 at 5:02pm For the record I have Christian friends, and I do not think all of them are assholes. But he shied away from even discussing the subject and hid behind a personal attack. That behavior as far as I've seen is a pretty common tactic in creationist debaters as well.
Um... what makes you think that exercising and trying to get a hysterectomy and perhaps even testosterone substitution (both half-illegal and VERY expensive in my country) as a way to improve my health makes me 'a bit nutty'? Check out cmrlink.org - they have the most amount of peer-reviewed data on the differences between male and female humans. (Could have mentioned Simon Baron-Cohen's Essential Difference as well, but that book is more controversial/dubious in its data gathering than the CMR site.)
