Obama Mixing Faith and Politics for Immigration Reform

I just read an LA Times article about Obama and Immigration Reform. The whole article is quite sickening to the hardened non-believer like myself, but what's even more irking to me is how overdone he was at this "Latino Prayer Breakfast" with the scripture, the "morals", etc. I don't really have much of an end-note here for this blog, but I thought I would share because it's just icky and makes me feel all dirty for some reason. Ick.

I think Obama has to act this way for several reasons. 1) the latino vote. The latino community is overwhelmingly catholic and considering the 1 in four people are Hispanic, and that in 2025 they will be a full 25% of the population, this is more of a necessity than a choice. 2) he also needs to reassure the "moderate" right christian voters and the "moderate" left christian voters that he is in fact a man of faith.  Personally I think he is way more secular than he leads on to be. He's too intelligent not to be. But yes, all the talk of the need of faith to move the country forward toward reform reeks of hypocrisy.

I am already sour enough from the concept of "Immigration Reform" since I live in Southeastern Arizona where there is a big problem with "illegal aliens" along with the drug smuggling and violence associated with it.

Now being an atheist this article adds insult to injury with this religious PR crap.

If people think there is no real problem then they are blind. I have seen first hand the damage done to people and the environment.  Janet Napolitano (traitor bitch from Arizona) has the nerve to say it's not that bad and goes along with this reform really feels like a kick in the crotch to me.

They want to make it nice for the criminals who totally disrespect the laws of our land. I can not agree!
