Not allowed to criticize religion? what do you think?

So today I posted a simple status to my facebook wall I regards to the day of prayer that has been issued. Everyone has been asked by government officials to pray that god will stop the oil leak and clean the ocean. I posted a simple reply to this insane and unconstitutional proposition and I was shocked by the response my friend Amber gave. If you were me, how would you reply?

Kyle Wilhelm: Today is a government sanctioned day of prayer for the oil leak to stop, violating the church & state separation. Nothing fails like prayer

Amber Noon: I respect the fact that you have different beliefs than the rest of us, but going as far as to say "nothing fails like prayer" is crossing a line, completely unnecessary, and petty. Saying something like that is very disrespectful. Stop and think about the people (who you care about) that you're offending with that statement. Proclaiming what you believe is one thing; showing blatant disregard for other's beliefs is something very different. This is disappointing. You're better than that, Kyle.

Maybe she should pray for you.

ask her if she respects the beliefs of 911 hijackers or she shows blatant disregard for their belief

I'm sorry Mr Good Without God, I might be reading too much into it but that's how I see it.

Amber assumes quite common tactic here. First she goes criticizing you for your opinion, but to prevent potential backfire, she is giving you the guilt ride, "You're better than that, Kyle. " Quite undermining actually, as you were to be clever or intelligent only if you are in agreement with her, according to her standards. I would say it right back at her " and i thought, you're better than that as well, Amber"...

She implores you to "stop and think about the people that you're offending". I would ask her to just "stop and think". If anyone that prays about the oil spill in the gulf would instead go there with an eye dropper and a thimble, and sucked up a small globule of oil, they would have accomplished so much more than prayer.

*Disclaimer - I stole that eye dropper part from PZ Myers.

With one verifiable case of prayer being demonstrably effective, I will retract my statement.

Oh, I've ran off friends before. I can't keep up with the 357 of them on Facebook anyways.

The oil leak didn't stop, did it, Amber? Where has pray ever been proven to work? Jesus said if only you had faith as small as a mustard seed you could move a mountain; yet, Jesus never moved one. Odd since that would have proven he was godly. Christians only pray when nothing else works--otherwise they go to the doctor.

"Hi Amber. If you feel prayer would be the best course of action, and would really work to stop the leak and clean the ocean, does that mean you think humans should stop trying to make the effort? If you don't think humans should stop, you're showing that you agree with me that prayer would fail. Don't worry, that's not a disrespectful thought to have. It could be considered disrespectful to let your fellow humans continue to think it would make a difference when it doesn't, don't you think?"
