So, this I think acts as my official outing as an atheist. I don't think I've ever really been anything but this or an agnostic, but I think over the past couple of years and Dawkins books, et al, I've moved firmly into the atheist camp. Whilst I have a huge amount of time for the good Professor, especially his more scientify writings, e.g. The Ancestor's Tale, I'm not in the militant wing, so if people want to stay with their imaginary friend and his book, as long as they don't get fundie and preachy, that's OK by me.
I'm a big advocate of a secular society and government - religion+ politics is a mix that never works, especially in the educational system, where it still surprises and vexes me that there are so many people who stick to creationism and just stick their fingers in their ears singing 'la la la can't hear you' to the stronger arguments of evolution. There we are really, atheist and rumbled...
