I just finished reading the mysterious stranger by mark twain. At the beginning they say that father peter was suspended from the church for supposedly telling his neice that god is goodness and will save all his children. i dont understand what was wrong with his comment. Does anyone know?

I have no idea what the objection was, but I would say though, and I don't mean to be funny, I'm honestly serious, religious peoples' actions and reactions to various things are frequently completely inexplicable in rational terms.  You could as 5 different Christians what was wrong with it, and get 5 different answers.  It drives me bananas.
