My Views
I am an atheist, and that's it. I am the atheist. If you are also an atheist, awesome. If you are not, well that's cool too. I may think that religion is false, but that was my choice to make. Everyone has their own choice, and if you want to choose religion, I may not agree, but I can't complain that you made your own choice. I try to be nice about it. When in an argument with a theist, I try may hardest to not insult them, but to simply tell them why I feel the way I do. I don't always succed, but I really do try, and I'm hoping to get better. The reason I try so hard at this, is because I know first hand how much it hurts when someone flat out attacks you for what you hold near and dear to your heart. I hate that feeling, and I would hate to be the reason someone else feels that way. I may not follow the rules of a god, but I still have a sense of morality, which tells me to treat people like people, and not like a piece of paper to scribble on.

Often the very fact of your (an atheist's) existence is an offense to a theist. No sense getting hung up over it.

I've hurt many peoples feelings I'm sure. The least negative reactions that I've gotten is when i've used the Bible against itself and or common logic. The age of the earth and the generation versus the speed of light and our ability to see that light. Or did Jesus fulfill Messianic Prophecy and if not, why call him the Messiah? Questions that don't pointedly say you are wrong, but simply that there is much that you don't know and you should look into it.
On the other hand, in most cases, if they have chosen to take me on in life, they chose to engage me. If their argument is weaker, then the redneck saying of "Don't start none, won't be none" will apply. But I get your point and agree when it's mutually fair.
