Me: in a majority of cases, it can be
Friend: and why is that?
Me: religion is the base of most of the mos devastating acts of murder and intolerance in history
Me: i disagree with every form of it/
Friend: have you ever looked at the history of humans? not even the religious aspect of it

Friend: humans are not that nicest things

Me: I distrust human beings as a whole
Me: but you don't see atheists or Buddhist waging any murderous genocides
Friend: i feel without guidance the human race would be a whole lot worse
Me: there is a difference between what you call guidance
Me: and true guidance
Me: man can seek guidance in other man
Me: in themselves
Me: in many many things
Me: but as i have seen from history and personal experience
Me: those people that seek guidance in a "god" or higher power tend to abuse that guidance
Me: and use it as justification for their wrongs

Friend: yes i will admit there are people who claim they are Christians and then do some dumb stuff
Me: dumb as in the holocaust?
Friend: i know a few of them that go to school around me that go to a christian college
Me: there are more than just a few
Me: I'm not saying that you're one of those people
Me: i have christian friend, whom i love and wouldn't change for the world
Friend: well you brought up the holocaust
Me: some people can handle the literal responsibility of religion
Me: most can't
Friend: he wasn't a christian because he was more or less killing off Jews and in the bible Jesus freed the Jews
Friend: so why would God "tell" Hitler to kill Jews?

Me: Hitler literally based his ENTIRE regime off of the basis that the German people were a divine race ordained pure by god.
Friend: yes i understand this
Me: And the Jews, as they killed Jesus in the bible, were to be murdered and cleansed from the glorious land of Germany
Me: he based the ENTIRE genocide off of the deluded belief that god ORDAINED him
Friend: Hitler was also in general was not a mentally stable man
Me: actually, you're wrong
Me: from all reports of his demeanor and every report of him, he was a well composed intellectual
Friend: 90% of serial killers are very intelligent and normally have genius IQs
Friend: would you view them as mentally stable?
Me: who is to say that their gods aren't actually talking to them?
Me: most serial killings are based off of religion or some form of believed ordainment from a higher power
Me: who is anyone to really judge whether or not their god is speaking to them to hurt others
Me: in the bible there are numerous counts of god in the old testament telling his followers to kill even their own family members
Me: then miraculously, in the new testament, the devil was born, as if the people of the christian faith couldn't deal with the reality of their god being both good and evil
Me: as he was in the old testament
Friend: yes i understand that he told his followers to kill family members and he also destroyed whole cities
Me: take a look at this,
Friend: the reasoning behind this was because they were going against his will
Friend: either way I'm a christian and i will stand by my faith 100%

Me: you see the difference between you and i
Me: is if you were to prove to me that god existed, or make me somehow see the light, i would be able to accept Christianity
Me: but i know, no matter how i prove to you otherwise, you will not see or admit my light.
