I get so amused by my religious friends when I force them to think about knowledge vs faith and belief. I say to them that they do not know GOD exists but rather they BELIEVE that he does. They have blank looks or the phone goes momentarily silent as they for the first time have to come to grips with this "inconvenient truth". Once they regain their composure they again will insist that they somehow DO know GOD exists. For one brief instant they had some lucidity. That is a start, don't you think?

It's a start. You just need to keep working on them now.

it's a good start. then, it could be asked, 'if you KNOW and are certain that god exists, what use is faith?'
