Dear Fronkey,

I know that you value Catholic Answers Forums and all the good they do for people across America and throughout the world.

That's why I'm writing to you today because the Forums need your help.

Specifically: Catholic Answers Forums needs to raise $75,000 to cover its operating costs for the next six months.

Please Donate Now to help us continue our work

Everyone who makes a donation will be entered in a drawing for free new iPad loaded with hours of Catholic Answers video and audio material — over a $1000 value. It contains dozens of our latest audio and video presentations including those by Scott Hahn, Tim Staples, Jimmy Akin, Leah Darrow, Matt Fradd and others.

Let us offer our thanks by helping you get the most out of Pope Benedict's Year of Faith:

For a monthly donation of $15 (or a one-time gift of $150) we'll send you Faith Clips, the fascinating DVD by Fr. Robert Barron, in which he answers 50 frequently asked questions about the Catholic faith.  It's a $19.95 value.

For $25 a month (or a one-time gift of $300) we have two gifts for you: Fr. Barron's Faith Clips DVD and a handsome, large-size copy of Catechism of the Catholic Church so that you can follow Pope Benedict's plan by building your faith in the Year of Faith.  Also great as a gift idea for friend or family.  Together the gifts are a $44.90 value.

For $50 a month (or a one-time gift of $600 or more) we have three gifts for you: Fr. Barron's Faith Clips DVD, a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and a copy of Fr. Barron's amazing, 10-episode DVD set, Catholicism.  Together they are a $194.85 value.

We only appeal to you twice a year to ask for help for the Forums, and we need your help at this time.

CAF is the largest Catholic community online.  Everyday it changes the lives of countless individuals.  It receives over 4 million hits per month.  To keep it going we need your help.

It costs more than $12,000 a month to keep Catholic Answers Forums operating, and we need to raise the funds for the next six months now.

As a Forum member, you recognize the value that the Forums provide to you. They also provide vital spiritual assistance to others. Here are messages from just three forum members, but they represent the kind of messages we receive constantly:

"Last year at this time, I was a lost Christian.  I was sincerely seeking truth and thanks to you all here at Catholic Answers Forums, I am now a proud Catholic--and discerning a vocation to the priesthood.  If it wasn't for CAF, I would never have become Catholic"

"My long journey home to the Catholic Church will conclude this Sunday when I am confirmed and received into the Church.  Catholic Answers Forums has been one of the greatest resources at my disposal during my journey.  I want to thank everyone who has assisted me in answering questions and encouraging me to continue."

"I came across the Catholic Answers Forum recently and spend many fruitful hours viewing the Ask an Apologist Forum.  It provided a treasure trove of information and answered many questions I have had about the faith.  I have been studying Catholicism for nearly a year now, and I have decided to become a Catholic"

Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, Catholic Answers Forums provides a valuable service for people across America and around the world. It supplies information, companionship, and support in a faith-building, Catholic environment. Whether one is on a spiritual mountain top or going through the dark night of the soul, Catholic Answers Forums is there.

How much have the Forums helped you?

Won't you help keep this important outreach going?

Please make your most generous donation today and help us reach our $75,000 goal so that we can keep Catholic Answers Forums up and running (and safe from hackers!) for the next six months.

A monthly contribution of $15 is just 50 cents a day — a small price to pay to support a community that helps thousands.

Please donate to keep CAF running.

Catholic Answers Forums cannot continue its mission without your help. We depend on you to continue operating.

Sincerely in Christ,

Karl Keating

P.S. Things are tight right now, and some people who would otherwise contribute may not be able to.

To help make up for that, please consider raising your monthly donation to the next higher level.

Regardless of the amount of your donation, you will be entered in the drawing for the free iPad loaded with Catholic Answers material.

wait, so they want you to pay $150 for a 20 dollar dvd? huh? and how could it cost them that much money to keep a website open?

Now I joined that site to show a Catholic friend why he would be better off seeking answers from Atheist sites instead. I also joined Christian Forums. It is difficult to describe how they make me feel. My first impression is that I am dealing with an alien race. I know we are the same species but I am so far removed from that mind-set that I have absolutely nothing in common with them. Well at least not on an intellectual or philosophical level. I know it can sound conceited of me but I genuinely cannot figure out how so many people – I mean adults - can be so plain ignorant of basic science and ask such pathetic questions. They consider whether Adam and Eve had belly buttons to be a meaning philosophical debate.

Apparently you can fool some of the people all of the time. Their leaders have absolutely no shame in swindling them of money while claiming to be moral authorities in all aspects of their lives. While this blatant robbery does annoy me I find it difficult to sympathize will the suckers who allow them themselves to be fooled over and over again. Shame on them too. I think Jesus must be turning in his grave watching them all. Oh wait a minute maybe he is no longer in it. I think I shall go ask them what they know about that. If you don’t hear from me for a few days could someone please call the fire department.

Did you click 'unsubscribe'?

@ Strega. I was thinking about that. Maybe I secretly like it.....you know some kind of deep seated catholic guilt syndrome. I was very bold today and need to be punished before I can be forgiven. Kinda like this lol.

Well, now Reg, I think I can arrange that for you, but it will cost.... let me see.... oh yes, $75,000.  Do you have Paypal, by any chance?  I can arrange for six pain-free filled installments to be directly debited from your account. Oh and your 'safe word' will be unsubscribe.  Please do not lose this word, as a duplicate cannot be supplied.

Good one. Here is a proper "unsubscribe" campaign that was running here a few years ago. The church was not happy about it. CountMeOut . It is offline but still worth a quick read. Now I will turn over on my other side and the church can swipe my credit card.
