I have friends and family who do that. Now I just sigh and shrug my shoulders when they post this sort of non-sense or claim that someone returning their lost wallet is proof that gawd is watching over them. I tried calling them out on the silliness of it early on, but all it did was make them upset and put me on their prayer list.

 

By the same token, if I post anything about atheism, logic, or science, they pretty much stay off my wall. So I guess I have sort of an unspoken truce with them just to keep the peace.

I have a feeling I'm on a few prayer lists. I just wish they wouldn't wast their times, ya know?

Come to think it, only my atheist/agnostic friends reply to my science posts ....just noticed that.

Yup, the only replies I get from my Christian friends are from posts about my garden, my dogs or anything else that's "safe" to talk about.

I have people like that on my FB too. They always post videos and other crap. Makes me crazy. Lol. The crap that they believe is insane to me. Like my mother in law posted the other day a video with Lee Strobel and how he has disproved evolution. I wanted to call her out on it so bad. The video was ridiculous. That guy is a hack.

Makes me wonder though just how many of these people actually did their praying....

I think most of it is "lip service" so to speak. Just to look good to their peers. Especially on social networks like FB.

Yeah, seems to be a problem on a lot of people's pages :)

 

It is really annoying. I mean do they really think by putting that on FB and people, as Walter said, dish out some "lip service", it really helps. I mean seriously, her husband probably tried really hard to get that job. Give him some credit, jeeze.

Oh gosh... so sorry, I can't stand it when I have wonderful friends and family that are overly religious and constantly needing prayer for trivial life issues.... Yea, god cares more about you to give you that job, raise, or mental state then trying to feed the hungry children in third world countries :::eyeroll::: .... Yea, its really annoying, but there isn't much you can say b/c you don't want to piss them off! lol.

EXACTLY! I think that praying for a job and what not is, not only pointless, but it's selfish too. I mean, really, if you're going to throw out some words, at least say something about the 2 wars we're currently fighting OR all the starving kids out there. I dunno, something!!
