Islam critic Ayaan Hirsi Ali speaks out on Brandeis decision to withdraw degree

It's rather interesting that a mostly Jewish university offered and then withdrew an honor to a woman speaking out against Islam. A former member of Dutch Parliament, Ali was herself a victim of misogynistic theocracy.

This interview was conducted yesterday on Fox news:

What makes a university "mostly Jewish"? The composition of the student body, mostly Jews on the governing board, or what? I find this terminology a little baffling.

Here in the US, for example, a Catholic Church-sponsored university—such as John Carroll University here in the Cleveland area—is a Catholic university. I would assume the same of a university sponsored by a Jewish group.

Hey Unseen,

I thought 'mostly Jewish' was less wordy than "Brandeis was founded in 1948 as a nonsectarian Jewish community-sponsored coeducational institution on the site of the former Middlesex University." In the vernacular, a friend who went there referred to it as "Jew U."

The point of the article is that, how bad things are out there, and how much closer to home this stuff is starting to appear. Pressure groups can apparently convince Jewish educational institutions to refrain from programs likely to be offensive to Islam.

Maybe I'm the only one who finds this interesting...

Over exaggerated cultural sensitivity and cultural relativism is a massive enemy to free thinking, humanism and individual rights. I wouldn't want to start my BA at most universities in 2014.
