Possibly useless piece of information...
I found this tool online that lets you type in any word and it tells you, through a search engine of your choice (mine is google :P) how the internet feels about a certain topic. I typed in atheism, and, well: http://www.whatdoestheinternetthink.net/index.php?s=atheism&st=...
To be honest, I was surprised. While I expect general negativity among general public (especially since I live in the Bible Belt) I kinda thought the internet was full of mostly atheist liberals like myself. Why do you think this is? Are Christian online forums becoming more popular? For whatever reason I feel like quoting Family Guy in..."Oh dear God, Lois, it's learning tools!!"
Comment by Akshay Bist on May 12, 2011 at 2:59pm First of all I don't really know how accurate this website really is. At the bottom of the page the number of results used to make the calculations was posted.
This result was based on 2,039 results from 14 individual searches.
There have to be more than just 2039 results when you search google for atheism. So I searched atheism on google & got this -
About 11,100,000 results
So this website doesn't really search all of the internet does it?
I did a search using other search engines & the results were pretty skewed -
So doesn't look like most of the internet hates on atheism, just top results from google do, or so this website says.
Any ways I wouldn't be too bothered about what the majority of the internet thinks. Atheists are a huge minority in the world & by extension, are a minority on the internet. Also, people who make the most noise on the internet are almost always the trolls. There opinion doesn't really count for much.
